Trouble in Tahiti is a one-act opera by Leonard Bernstein. Set in the 1950s, the opera follows a desperately unhappy husband and wife raising a son in a deceptively idyllic suburban America.
This production also included a Greek chorus of gods narrating and providing commentary on the lives of the mortals.
I draped and assembled Dinah’s gold gown, and assembled her black and white dress.
I also worked with the cutter draper on the gray skirt suit. That suit included a hand-turned collar and several welt pockets. Crafting tailored clothing for a curvy body was a fun challenge!
I also made the Peter Pan collar blouse, based on designer Sue Bondi’s sketch on the left.
