This unique production combines choral masterwork Carmina Burana and tragicomic opera Pagliacci. The two productions are performed back-to-back in a single production. The two halves are linked by themes of love and loss.
This was also one of the three productions that I was in. I played the bride when a supernumerary dropped out last minute.
For the Carmina Burana portion of this production I was tasked with recreating the dancers’ dresses based on sketches from the original 1995 production. That process also involved a custom ombre dye treatment.
On the dress form you can see the lead dancer’s dress, pre-dye. Most of the dresses were a drapey rayon knit, but this one was a light woven fabric and the blousy tied top was chiffon.
