This event is the culmination of a year of hard work. Many of these students started the academic year not knowing how to thread a sewing machine, and now they know how to design, pattern draft and assemble their own original designs! I’m beyond proud of the designers and craftspeople they’ve become.

On my end, this event involved working with the students to develop and then hone their final collection designs, helping them with their patterns, mock-ups and fittings, and finally guiding and overseeing the construction of full collections. It also involved organizing the fashion show from venue selection to model casting to stage-managing runway day. All told, we had:

• 12 designers
• 8 hair and makeup artists
• 27 models
• 64 original looks
• and a sold-out 200 seat venue
